The Story
“I make this for two events every year: the Super Bowl and presidential elections. I have no idea why I've chosen those two as my seven layer dip occasions, but here we are. The layers are refried beans, sour cream mixed with taco seasoning (base five plus chili powder), guacamole, salsa, shredded Mexican cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, and diced tomatoes. I skip the black olives and green onions that some people add — most people don't actually like the olives. If you have olive fans, put a bowl on the side. Serve with Tostitos Scoops — they're the only chips that work for this because they actually hold a scoop of all the layers. Can be made hours ahead and refrigerated.”
