EasyPrep: 10 minCook: 10 minServes 4Stovetop
Ingredients
- ●Pulled pork (see Playbook)
- ●8 slices deli ham
- ●8 slices Swiss cheese
- ●Dill pickle slices
- ●Yellow mustard
- ●4 sub rolls or Cuban bread
- ●Butter for the outside of the bread
Assembly
- 1.Build each sandwich: spread yellow mustard on both sides of the roll. Layer pulled pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles.
- 2.Butter the outside of the top and bottom of the roll.
- 3.Press the sandwich in a hot pan using another heavy pan, a foil-wrapped brick, or a panini press. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- 4.Alternatively, wrap each assembled sandwich individually in foil and bake at 375°F for about 15-20 minutes. This method works great for making ahead.
- 5.For tailgates: assemble and wrap in foil the day before. Bake or reheat at the tailgate.

The Story
“This is built on pulled pork from the Playbook, which makes it a great use of leftovers. The combination of pulled pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and yellow mustard is one of those flavor combos that just works perfectly. The key is pressing and toasting it — butter the outside and use a heavy pan to press it flat while it cooks, or use a panini press if you have one. You can also pre-wrap these in foil and bake them in the oven — I've done this for tailgates, making them the day before and heating them up the next day. They travel really well.”
